We are an independent, volunteer-run heritage site that receives very little government funding \u2014 your donations are key to maintaining this rare historic building. All donations of $20 or more will receive a tax receipt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Donate by Interac e-Transfer<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>To make a donation or pay a <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.tollkeeperscottage.ca\/index.php\/memberships\/\">membership fee<\/a>, you can now do it the modern way \u2014 online! We can receive an Interac e-Transfer at our email address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Send your e-Transfer to: <a href=\"mailto:tollkeeperscottage@gmail.com\">tollkeeperscottage@gmail.com<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To do an e-Transfer you must do online banking at a Canadian financial institution. A tax receipt is also given for memberships. You can pay by e-Transfer or in person. Please mention &#8220;membership&#8221; in your note. <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.tollkeeperscottage.ca\/index.php\/memberships\/\">Find out more about memberships here.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Donate Historic Items or Services<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Volunteer Your Time<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>We have volunteer opportunities in several areas. You could be a docent, dress in period clothing and lead tours; or work in archiving and research, gardening, event planning, fundraising and more. Volunteers span many age groups \u2014 high school students can apply volunteer hours towards graduation credit, university students can develop their interest in history toward a future career, and retirees often find volunteering here a rewarding way to stay connected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dev.tollkeeperscottage.ca\/index.php\/volunteers\/\">Find out what it&#8217;s like to be a Tollkeeper&#8217;s Cottage volunteer.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Donate Historic Items<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>For history buffs interested in what to do with inherited treasures, here are examples of the kinds of items we are always looking for to add to the Tollkeeper&#8217;s Cottage collections: wooden pails, an adult-size wooden yoke (for carrying pails), tin wall sconces for candles, dishes (plates, soup bowls, cups, saucers), period clothing and shoes, bed sheets (cotton or linen only), and toys for children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All items must be pre-1860 and be of the sort that very poor people would have been able to afford or possess as hand-me-downs from other families. If you think you may have something suitable, we&#8217;d love to hear from you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Donate Your Skills<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Beyond cash and artifacts, we always welcome donations of services and professional skills. Over the years, supporters have contributed in many ways: electrical work, carpentry, graphic design, photography, web development, baking for our Cookie Day fundraiser, gardening in our pollinator garden, and much more. If you have a skill you&#8217;d like to share, please get in touch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We also welcome donations of professional skills \u2014 carpentry, electrical work, gardening, baking, graphic design, photography, and more. Please <a href=\"mailto:tollkeeperscottage@gmail.com?subject=I%20would%20like%20to%20donate\">contact us<\/a> to discuss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Interac e-Transfer \u2014 Frequently Asked Questions<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Do I need to add a security question?<\/strong><br>No security question is needed \u2014 our account has been set up to automatically receive deposits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How will I know my donation was received?<\/strong><br>You will receive an email confirming your gift was received.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When will I get my tax receipt?<\/strong><br>Tax receipts for e-Transfers will be mailed annually in early February of the following year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is the minimum and maximum amount I can give?<\/strong><br>There is no minimum amount, however, only gifts or memberships of $20 or over will be issued a tax receipt. The maximum amount depends on the daily limit defined with your bank \u2014 contact them for details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How much does it cost to send money via an Interac e-Transfer?<\/strong><br>There may be a fee from your financial institution for using the Interac e-Transfer service.
